Workforce readiness education – live, online from home – comes just in time for Covid-19 Summer

Girls With Impact kicks off mini-series to provides powerful options for parents while addressing the skills gap for employers

Stamford, CT – On the heels of nearly 1,000 new students from its Covid-19 free offer, Girls With Impact – the nation’s only live, online business programming for girls – today announced that it is expanding its educational options to include workforce readiness skills.

The programming – under the banner “Future Ready Skills” – features a host of three-class mini-series and single-day workshops, ranging from innovation to money to getting college ready amid Covid-19.

“Heading into Summer, the challenges for working parents are even more fierce,” said Jennifer Openshaw, CEO, noting the closure of traditional camps and the continued challenges of most schools in the digital world.

“Our Future Ready Skills programming builds on our proven curriculum and delivery model and gives parents affordable but powerful options to keep their daughters learning and advancing.”

Lynda Applegate, Harvard Business School professor and Advisory Board members, echoes the opportunity.

“There’s a tremendous disconnect between what kids do after school or summer, like dishing ice cream, and what they could be doing to build their futures,” said Applegate. “This program is a great way to help young people get into colleges, get experience, and build leadership skills. I love it.”

75% of employers who say new hires lack the skills they need.  With Covid-19 impacting the economy, many states are looking to train talent for the jobs of the future. Girls With Impact’s own study finds that 60% of GenZers want to personally drive social change and innovation.

“This is a triple-whammy,” said one executive.  “Employers win. Our economy wins. And our working families win this Summer as they try to remain productive from home.”

Summer options kick-off June 8th.   Parents may choose from various days and times. Classes are limited to 20 per student and produce a host of student outcomes including increases in confidence, public speaking, financial literacy and more.

Girls With Impact is on a mission to train 10,000 young women to “lead from the top.”
