FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Greenwich, CT
February 23, 2023
Girls With Impact, the leading nonprofit business educational program for young women, today announced a powerful lineup of 2023 honorees to be recognized for advancing equity at the 3rd Annual International Women’s Day Benefit Concert.
The March 8th event raises funds to turn girls into leaders by educating resourced young women with Girls With Impact’s business and leadership academy. The event is presented by Citi and Live Nation Women along with the nonprofit Girls With Impact.
“I am thrilled to support Girls with Impact and the 3rd annual International Women’s Day Benefit Concert,” said Amy France, Founder of the Luke and Meadow Foundation. “As a mother – to both a daughter and a son --- I cannot think of a more important cause than empowering the next generation of girls and women.”
“As a kid, I learned that if you want to change a home, a community, the world, you must start by helping women and girls to rise,” said Nikki Darden, Head of Brand Engagement & Global Integration at Citi. “I’m so honored to be part of this incredible event that celebrates just that and continues to move us closer to that goal.”
“When women thrive, businesses thrive and so does our world, said Girls With Impact CEO Jennifer Openshaw. “That’s why each year we honor those who exemplify our mission of changing lives for women of all backgrounds.”
The Advancing Equity honorees are selected each year to recognize contributions to advancing women and equal opportunity through innovation, policies, practices or philanthropic investments.
The 2023 Advancing Equity honorees are:
For Philanthropy: Amy France, Founder of the Luke & Meadow Foundation
For Business: Nikki Darden, Head of Brand Engagement & Global Integration at Citi
For Music: Valerie Simpson of the legendary Motown duo Ashford & Simpson -- Rated 20 Greatest Duos of All Time (Rolling Stone), Songwriters Hall of Fame, and composer of such #1 hits for Diana Ross, Chaka Khan and others including Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing, Solid As a Rock and I’m Every Woman.
“Our Advancing Equity Award recognizes those leaders who are making impactful -- but often unsung -- contributions to advance women and girls and ultimately our world,” said Openshaw added. “These women – Amy, Tina, Nikki and Valerie -- are incredible role models and I hope other philanthropists and business leaders look to them as examples of what can be achieved through vision and hard work.”
All funds raised from the concert will benefit under-resourced young women in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and nationwide. Get your tickets now at Ticketmaster (https://www.ticketmaster.com/event/03005E3059880B0C) or visit GirlsWithImpact (www.girlswithimpact.org) for more information.
