Louisville, KY -- Today’s young minds hold bright ideas and a passion for social change. But to turn their dreams into a reality, they’ll need the proper training.

Together with non-profit Girls With Impact (GWI), an online business and social impact academy for teen girls, Appriss is providing a transformative opportunity for ten Louisville teens to undertake intensive training and skill-building.

Through the GWI program, they’ll learn how to launch their own ventures and navigate the business domain. One of those teens, Hawon Oh, shared some insight into her experience in the program so far.

“I’m really thankful to Appriss that I get to be part of this program and to be able to actually start carrying out my business plan,” says Oh, just 14, of Louisville Male High School.

“Being in a virtual classroom full of girls is really letting me be more confident and share my ideas more.”

Another student, Emma Dobson, shared the venture she is starting to build through the program, which she named “The Columbia Project. “

“Columbia is the female personification of the United States,” said Dobson, “It’s what’s depicted on the statue of liberty, so it’s America’s project in a way.”

As part of The Columbia Project, Dobson designed a digital platform to empower youth with the resources they need to vote and to form an educated political stance.

“I think Girls With Impact is a really special organization,” said Dobson, as it teaches girls that their ideas “are viable and they could really turn into something special.”

The empowerment and support of these young women is an aim that is wholeheartedly promoted by Appriss.

Appriss CEO, Krishnan Sastry, believes that providing opportunity at the most impressionable time in a young person’s life has the potential to change their life for good, and develops diverse, inclusive talent for the next generation of tech leadership.

“Finding the best talent and presenting opportunities to nurture that talent early is part of our ongoing commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion,” said Sastry.

“That’s why we are excited about our partnership with Girls With Impact - to create opportunities for young women of diverse backgrounds in Louisville and, in the process, to transform our policies and workplaces for the greater good.”

The Girls With Impact Academy is available to all Appriss families at a deep discount of just $199, a nearly $700 savings. Use code “APPRISS” at checkout – and share with your network.
